Artist biography
Jerry McKinney (1937 - 2013) was born in Sturgis, South Dakota and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. After studying Business Administration at the University of Northern Iowa, he embarked on a long and successful corporate career with an emphasis on Human Resources and Business Administration. One might consider the idea of "outsider artist" as applying here as he did not study art nor did he make his art with any intention of exhibiting or selling his work - it was a creative outlet and something he enjoyed doing simply for the sake of doing it. He had a small work table and welding tools in his garage where he created his metal sculpture.
