I’m looking through some photographs on my computer from 2018 and happened upon a couple that interest me. The first one (above) was on an empty store, and I added my own little message, based on my reaction to the second one (below), which looks like one of those slightly-illustrated inspirational quote art works that are sold as wall art. It looks like I snapped the picture from something on my tv. I don’t remember who the guy is or what show it was, but I guess the quote grabbed my attention.
I like the quote “Adventure May Hurt You But Monotony Will Kill You,” but I can’t find who said it. Does anyone know? If so, please share in the comments section below. I agree with it in general, although I don’t really think of adventure as something that’s going to hurt me. And as far as monotony killing anyone, I guess it depends on what the monotonous activity is. The definition includes “tedious repetition and routine,” and by that definition, I suppose one could consider my interest in looking at and making art to be “monotonous,” and that makes me quite happy. But even so, I do like a good adventure, and like to take day trips to new and unexpected places. So I will definitely stick towards leaning into adventure as opposed to being complacent with monotony.
