I was running errands when I noticed this blue pickup truck on the road next to me. It was the door in particular that grabbed my attention; there was something about the painted repairs that didn’t come close to fixing the original problem that made me think of Mark Rothko’s paintings. Why? Let’s take a closer look before … that blue rectangular shape that doesn’t quite match the original color seems to float on top of the white, cloudy color below it, kind of like the way Mark Rothko’s painted rectangles seem to float on the surface of his canvases. So I created my own hypothetical Rothko-inspired painting, below right, and added the same section of the pickup blue paint to the canvas, so you can see what I’m talking about.
I kind of like the idea of a Mark Rothko-inspired pickup truck, what do you think?
