Neither one of us knew right off the top of our head what it was, but a quick image search told us it was an egret, which is a type of heron. And from what I understand, all egrets are herons, but not all herons are egrets.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1873\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1873\" style=\"width: 840px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mckinneyarts.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/pond-where-egret-lives.jpg\" alt=\"pond in Minnesota where I saw the egret\" width=\"850\" height=\"619\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1873\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1873\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The pond and deck behind the apartment complex.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At any rate, the egret later moved into what must have been a shallow area of the pond, as it was standing in the water, but it was the reflections on the water that grabbed my attention. Below are four photos I took of the egret with the mirrored reflection in the water &#8211; maybe I&#8217;ll try turning one of these into a painting &#8230;?
