In this case, as I’m following the path to the ocean, I realized that the “fence” along the property to the left of the path is made entirely of cactus (or should I say “cacti?”).

What I find interesting is that it’s not like the cacti have been harvested and lined up like this – as you can see, they’re all planted in the ground and are living plants. Whoever decided they wanted to fence off their property, they actually planted all of these cacti in a row to make this natural wall.

Considering the prickly nature of cacti, it’s certainly an effective method of fencing off a property – I sure wouldn’t try getting over or around this fence!

Here’s another look at a different part of the cactus fence – it’s very uniform, the way alternating cacti lean in opposite directions. I’d say a real creative person made this cactus fence!

A uniform cactus fence as seen in Bonaire.

One of the things I liked about visiting Bonaire was that one could drive around the perimeter of the island and find multiple access points to the water – some were official beaches, others were just simple paths to the water.
