I was walking home from some errands when I noticed this empty sign along Franklin Avenue in my town of Belleville, NJ. I can see a very faint trace of the former sign for one-time men’s hair replacement center, but it looks like they turned it inside out so that the blank back side would fill the space in this sign.
My first thought was: “this would be a good place to install some art.” And my second thought, now that I know it used to be a sign for a hair-related business, is that it would be a good place to put a painting that features hair! Here’s an imaginary art installation featuring a painting I made back in 1991, titled “At The Bar.” This is certainly better than a blank white sign, don’t you think?
