Press Release: McKinney Arts presents Syncopated Visions, the inaugural exhibition in the new gallery located in the ground floor space of artist/curator Mark McKinney's townhouse. Due to the residential nature of the location (Belleville, NJ), viewings of exhibitions are by appointment only.
Syncopated Visions is a group show centered on the theme of jazz, a music genre long appreciated by Mark McKinney. From elementary school days learning the saxophone, to seeing Ornette Coleman in concert as a teen, to playing in a high school jazz band that once performed in Norway, and of course enjoying jazz as an adult, the music has been an influence in both listening and ways of seeing.
Syncopated Visions includes work by Mark McKinney, an unknown artist found at an antiques store, a mass-produced festival poster, and two metal wall sculpture by McKinney's father, Jerry McKinney. The exhibition will be on view from April 25 - May 18, 2025. Inquiries about the exhibition, the artists, appointments, and more can be made here.
